About.
Wesley Kirk grew up in Fort Worth and started making movies when he was 13, simply because he had an idea for a movie, and wanted to see it made. With the help of a few friends and a miniDV camcorder, he created his first short film, starting his passion for filmmaking. By the end of high school, he had made 30 short films and been in 4 film festivals.
Around that same time, he began his love of photography as well, with a camera from his mother and film from his father. What began as a way to keep his filmmaking skills sharp between movies, turned into another creative outlet and a continuation of his storytelling abilities. In 2007, he started his first business, The Vision Beautiful, a film & photo company, specializing in cinematic portraiture.
While attending the University of North Texas, majoring in Film and minoring in Entrepreneurship, he founded Click Clack Short Films, a short film distribution company, which won $10,000 in the New Venture Creation Competition. He started Fail Better Posters, a project that designed a new motivational poster each week and spread hundreds of copies around town to inspire strangers. He began People of Denton, a project where he photographed & interviewed interesting people around town. And most importantly, he founded UNT Short Film Club, one of the largest & most active clubs on the University of North Texas campus. UNT Short Film Club is a community of filmmakers & film lovers, who come together to watch & discuss great short films, learn about filmmaking concepts, and work together to create amazing short films.
Since moving back to Fort Worth in 2017, Wesley has been a strong advocate for the arts and civic engagement. He co-founded House of Iconoclasts, an art collective for outsider artists, which in its first year was named Best Art Collective by Fort Worth Weekly, and awarded an art collective residency in the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.
He also founded Vote Fort Worth, a voter education resource about local elections. And joined the board for SteerFW, an emerging leaders organization, where he founded the Arts & Culture committee to help bring the arts world & civics world together.
He also founded Support Fort Worth Art, an arts advocacy organization, focused on building a thriving arts ecosystem within Fort Worth.
When he’s not running his film & photo business, Vision & Verve, he can be found gardening, woodworking, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and helping bring ideas to life.
